Caption Contest Winner
The winner of this caption contest is: Liz from This Full House.

“Jeez, but I’m feeling SO overwhelmed and I couldn’t possibly do ANOTHER cover!”
My darling husband couldn’t decide which of the entries he liked best, so I told him to put names in a hat and draw one. He decided that he didn’t want to be the one to pull the winning slip of paper, so he enlisted Dawson’s help.
When Dawson reached into the hat and pulled out the winning piece of paper he yelled, “Abba Go Gabba Dabba” (we have been reading the same book for three days called The Magic Rabbit so this could be why) and Comment #3 was the chosen one.
Congratulations, Liz!
Thank you all for playing!

Caption Contest

Okay, bloggy friends… it’s time for a contest.
Help me come up with a caption for this photo. The reader who submits the best caption will win a $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
Submissions must be left in the comments, one per person, and please include your e-mail address so that I can contact the winner. All entries must be received on or before Saturday, March 1st by midnight CST.
Don’t worry. I will not be the judge. I’m leaving that job up to the Hubs. Y’all don’t want to know the caption he came up with.
So, get to it!

Come On And Take A Free Ride, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
One of the local radio stations, WIFC, has a Jeep Free Ride Giveaway going on. When listeners hear the song Free Ride playing, they need to call the station to qualify to win a one year lease of 2007 Jeep Compass and $1500 worth of gasoline from a local gas station. Basically they round up several qualifiers and have one big drawing to win the grand prize.
As I was driving to work yesterday morning, I heard the song and decided to call in. I thought it would be way cool to get an opportunity to win this ride. Imagine my surprise when I happened to be caller number nine. It went something like this:
DJ Dave Kalloway: WIFC, Hello!
Dorky Dana: Hi!
DJ Dave Kalloway: Whattya doin’?
Dorky Dana: Yenno, nothing really. Just on my way to work.
DJ Dave Kalloway: Well, we’re going to start your Monday off right. You have now qualified to win the Jeep Free Ride.
Dorky Dana: Well that sucks.
DJ Dave Kalloway: Why would that suck?
Dorky Dana: Wait, did you say I have qualified? Or have not qualified?
DJ Dave Kalloway: You have qualified!
Dorky Dana: Holy cats. For real? I swear I thought you said I have not!
DJ Dave Kalloway: You were in the right place at the right time.
Dorky Dana: I’m beyond stunned here.
Yeah. And they played that little exchange on the radio. I really did think he said I did not qualify. Ha ha ha. Seriously. Could I be any more dorky? But who cares! I could win a one year lease for this baby right here:

Can you imagine how nerdy I’ll be if I drive away in one of these? It will really suck to give it back at the end of a year.
And today is Marooned Without A Compass Day. Isn’t that a kalinky-dink (coincidence)?

Three Days of Rain Makes Me Insane
It has been raining for the past three days. Yesterday morning Doug checked the rain gauge and mentioned that we got close to 4 1/2 inches of rain. And I think I heard that Governor Doyle declared a state of emergency for parts of Wisconsin that were flooded.
We did need that rain, though. Crops were drying out and farmers without fancy irrigation systems were calculating their losses because the corn wasn’t “knee-high-by-July”.
I dislike the rain on the days I have to work because I can’t wear my comfy sandals and I have to carry an umbrella so I don’t look like a drowned rat when I get into the office.
Doug loves the rain until he realizes the grass is as tall as his ankles and it’s time to mow the lawn once again.
Dawson really doesn’t mind the rain (although he hates thunderstorms), but it sure puts a damper (pun intended) on any outdoor playtime we had planned. No swing set, no sandbox, no kickball. It makes him stir crazy.
This morning, looking out the window and seeing the gloomy, rainy day just makes me want to go home, curl up with a blanket and a book and tune out the television, telephone and any other noisy electronics.
Gloomy days are yucky.
You know what cheers me up? Entering contests!
