Chill Out, Daddy

Last night at dinner time, Dawson decided to pitch a fit over what he wanted to eat.  He didn’t want pork chops and told his father and me that he preferred ramen noodles, which he calls “soup.”

“Daddy, I want soup!”  Dawson yelled.

“Dawson, I’m not making a special meal just for you.”

“Yeah, but, Daddy!  I WANT SOUP!”

“Dawson, can’t you just be a good boy and have pork chops with Mumma and me?”

“NO, DADDY!  I WAAAAANT  SOOOOUUUUPPP!”

“Fine.  Whatever.  It’s gonna take ten minutes or so.  Can you wait that long?”  Doug asked.

Dawson nodded and proceeded to wait in the kitchen, while lying on the floor, for his soup to be made.  Obviously, this irritated Doug, as our kitchen isn’t very big and he worried he’d step on his son as he maneuvered from stove to sink and so forth.

After several minutes of tiptoeing around the child, Doug finally yelled, “Dawson!  Get off the floor before I step on you!”

And my brilliant child replied, “Geez, Daddy!  Take a chill pill!”

I nearly peed my pants.

In fact, I’m still laughing about it…

Kids do say the darnedest things!
