Four Going On Fourteen

This morning, Dawson refused to listen to me.  I swear the child was testing me, to see how much I’d let him get away with.  I wasn’t biting that line, and when he threw the mother of all temper tantrums, I sent him to his room.  Five minutes later I heard this:

“Mommy, I hate you!  You’re so stupid!”

And I thought I had 9 more years to prepare myself for life with a teenager.

I know he doesn’t mean what he said, but I still cried just a little.  This motherhood thing sucks ass sometimes.

  1. Well put. My son is the same age, and I almost listed him on Craig’s List yesterday. An hour later he was snuggling on my lap, giving his dad the impression that we’d had a delightful afternoon. What the hell!?

Nice to meet you and I will try to check in more often!!

  2. Who said the two’s were terrible? It’s the 3’s, and 4’s that really hurt!

  3. I’m pretty sure when TM starts this, I’m going to hang her upside down by her “piggies” and listen to me talk about how I didn’t sleep for 13 months!

  4. There are more ups than downs … so don’t get too upset. When he comes and gives you a kiss and looks at you with big eyes, you will just melt…. but it is hard.

  5. Whitney, it’s amazing how quickly they grow up — and yet they still need us. Whether they want to admit or not.

Laurie, you are so right. The terrible two’s were nothing compared to this!

Ashley, I feel your pain. All those months I got up to nurse that boy and he tells me he hates me! The hell? ;) Okay, I know he loves me, but that hurt!

Wendy, I’m glad to know that it gets better. So he won’t hate me forever, right? :D
