Fourth of July 2008 in Pictures
We celebrated Independence Day at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point. It’s a tradition my father started nearly ten years ago. We always gather together earlier in the afternoon and have a cookout with friends and family. It’s a wonderful, happy celebration that we look forward to every summer.
As always, my mother made her famous 7-Layer Salad, I brought the Italian Pasta Salad, Dish brought her Seafood Salad and Cindy brought the Flag Cake and other goodies. And just like every other year, we all stuffed ourselves and burned off the extra holiday calories by playing lawn jarts, ladder ball and Polish horse shoes. And of course, I captured the best moments on camera for reminiscing in years to come.
This year’s Fourth of July Celebration was a little more special because our beloved city of Stevens Point celebrated it’s 150th birthday — and the Riverfront Rendezvous at Pfiffner Park just down the river, was packed with people from all over the county. Sentry Insurance sponsored an exceptional fireworks display, the best we’ve seen so far, and the boat parade had a few more decorated boats than years before.
My favorite part of the occasion was spending time with family and friends. Everyone was feeling patriotic and thankful to live in the U-S of A.
Some photo favorites:

The Annual Boat Parade on the Wisconsin River.

My brother Frank and Otto Puppy rest before the fireworks begin.

Hope your holiday was as beautiful as ours was. Happy Birthday, Stevens Point, and Happy Birthday, America!

I want to give you a giggle so I’m going to confess. We came downtown, near the Bloody Mary Bridge to watch the firworks and waited until 10:20pm on the 4th. I called my son and he informed me that they would be on the 5th! UGH!
Glad you guys had fun!
