Haiku Friday: NKOTB, My Sister and Me

Haiku Friday

I bought two tickets

to see New Kids on the Block

oh yes, yes I did.

I don’t know how it happened. I got an e-mail from Ticketmaster. It said, “Get Your Tickets for NKOTB” and somehow, I found myself entering my credit card information. $184 dollars later, I have two tickets to swoon over Danny, Jon, Jordan, Donny and Joe. Mmmm. Joey. Still cute in my book. Oh what a girly-girl I am.

I’ve decided to take my sister along with me. She used to “borrow” my NKOTB cassette tapes when we were kids. I was 12, she was 6, and I think she just wanted to be like me. Back then I thought it was annoying. Now I think it’s endearing, and so totally perfect for surprising her with a ticket.

How I pray she doesn’t read the blog today (she’s been so busy she hasn’t read it in months — it would be my luck that she checks in on this day). The concert is in October, and this will be our last “Sisterly Hurrah” before she deploys for Iraq next year.

Is it dorky that I suddenly have “Hangin’ Tough” stuck in my head?

This is my first Haiku Friday. I’m joining the fun. You can, too! Visit Christina’s blog for details.

  10. My first time too (for Haiku). I think that is a really sweet present. Are you prepared for the shrieking of pre-adolescent girls? Or has the crowd maybe changed since we were kids??

  13. You and your sister are spaced similar to my sister and I (7 years apart) and we watched the NKOTB appearance on the Today show while on the phone, squealing like teenagers, vowing to go to the concert, cost be damned. I can’t wait!! I hope you and your sister lose your voices, and also that your sister has a safe deployment.

  14. ooo … they are one of my favorites :)

  15. Are you aware how fast those tickets sold for the Cleveland show? I tried. But I don’t want to pay a fortune to drive 2 hours and sit in nosebleed seats. I’d get a better view watching them on the Today Show again.

Congrats – hope you’ll report back. And I hope they’ll do another tour and come to Columbus.

  16. Really? That fast? I think I heard something about a record breaking sell out, but wow….

This is the first time I’m seeing them and in a strange way, I’m giddy about it. It’s 1989 all over again. Hehe.
