Liveblogging the Packer Playoff Game

I’m watching the game. It’s not looking good in the first quarter of the Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks playoff game at Lambeau Field.

* The Packers have had two turnovers in less than two minutes in this game against the Hawks. This is not looking good, at all. However, it’s still early. Green Bay needs to get down to business. Go, Pack! Go!!

* Two injured Seattle players in two minutes also.

* Two touch downs. Seattle 14, Green Bay 0.

* Mike McCarthy challenges the play.

* Never mind. Force out cannot be challenged.

* Am I the only one who loves the huge tackles of both teams as they fight over forward progress?

* First down completion.

* Grant forced out of bounds. Thank goodness not a fumble this time!

* Second down and seven — Favre taken down by Leroy Hill.

* 31 yard pass play!!! Wooo hooo! James Jones rocks the snowy Tundra!

* Donald Lee makes the catch on third down. Gets knocked back. The crowd is going wild!

* Favre to Jennings! Touchdown!

* Extra kick is good! Seattle 14, Packers 7, with 7 minutes left on the clock — first quarter. We’re coming back now!

* Loud Lambeau crowd makes it difficult for Hasselbeck to be heard. He was knocked out of bounds and then, sacked on the next play.

* Packers are getting back to business.

* Favre to Driver, 2nd and 7.

* Close call. Nearly intercepted again by Seattle.

* 3rd and 7. Favre calls time out. 5:04 remaining on the clock.

* Favre complete to Bubba Franks. Bickering going on about whether a first down was made.

* McCarthy challenges the spot on the field. It was only inches for a first down.

* After review of the play, the officials will re-spot the ball and remeasure.

* FIRST DOWN! Tundravision never fails.

* I love the play that consists of Favre yelling, “OVER! OVER! OVER! OVER!” It’s like code language and usually results in an awesome play.

* 1st & 10 — Favre to Grant, first down and more to 16 yard line, gain of 26 yards. I love that kid.

* Fifteen more yards for Grant, to the 1-yard line!

* 1st & 1 — Leroy Hill made the tackle on Ryan Grant.

* 2nd & Goal. Ryan Grant TOUCHDOWN!!!

* Packers 14, Seattle 14 — Field goal kick is good!!!

*Awesome replay of the block that enabled Grant to get through the tackle. As a running back, Grant always follows is fullback. He is a rockin’ player.

* Crosby’s kickoff — Seattle is short of the 25-yard line with the ball.

* Nick Barnett forces Maurice Morris back.

* Hasselbeck to Maurice Morris again, although there’s an offensive penalty for holding.

* First quarter is over. I think the snow is working in Green Bay’s favor.

* Seahawks fumble, Packers recover!!

* Grant completes a first down.

* Now second and goal, Seahawks call time out.

* Favre to Jennings, lobbed into the end zone for a touchdown!

* Extra kick is good 21-14 — Packers lead!

* Burleson brought down by Cory Hall.

* Shaun Alexander taken down.

* Atari Bigby makes the tackle on Engram.

* Hasselbeck taken down. 4th & Inches.

* Punt is blocked. Personal fowl, roughing the kicker. 15 yard penalty, automatic first down. Damn it, GB!

* Hasselbeck sets up the play to Shaun Alexander. Alexander down, now at 2nd & 5.

* Pass caught by Burleson. Nick Barnett takes him down.

* 1st & 10. Pass intended for Marcus Pollard, incomplete.

* Hasselbeck to Bobby Engram. Picks up a first down.

* Now at 2nd & 6 — passed to Alexander, Williams and Pickett bring him down with no running room.

* 3rd & 7 — ball dropped by D.J. Hackett. Atari Bigby ready to knock him down.

* Brown out to attempt a 29 yard field goal, and the kick is good. Seattle 17, Packers still at 21.

* I missed some plays. Dawson had a potty chair accident!

* 6:08 left on the clock. Packers, 2nd & 10. Grant gains 3 yards, to the 44-yard line.

* Brett to Jennings, ball caught at the Seahawks’ 45-yard line.

* 2nd & 3 — Favre to Driver. Breaks the tackle, then finally brought down after completing the first down.

* Now, 1st & 10 — at the 28 yard line. Favre to Driver again, brought down after a gain of 4 yards.

* 2nd & 6 @ Seahwks’ 24-yard line. Favre pump-fakes, looking for Donald Driver. Packers want a flag. Pass interference?

* Favre to James Jones. Pass caught for a first down, at the Seahawks’ 15 yard line.

*1st & 10 — 2 minute warning.

* Ryan Grant, down at the 14 yard line. Tackled by Julian Peterson.

* Packers facing a 3rd down & 8, Favre nearly sacked, but stays on his feet. Improvisation — tosses ball to Donald Lee. Makes a 1st down & Goal.

* Ryan Grant touchdown in the end zone!!!!!!

* Extra point good! GB, 28. Seattle, 17.

* “Favre is on Fire”, sign held in the stands.

* 15 seconds left on the clock. Hasselbeck takes a knee. It’s half-time.

The twenty-eight points that Green Bay has scored thus far, ties their playoff record from 25 years ago, this week when they played the Arizona cardinals.

* Beginning of third quarter. After kick-off, Burleson knocked down.

* Next pass incomplete. Packers’ Charles Woodson matches up with Bobby Engram.

* Hasselbeck to Engram, at the 27-yard line. 3rd down & 7 to go.

* Al Harris on the coverage, ball incomplete to Burleson.

* Brown punts from the 18-yard line.

* Packers start out at the 34-yard line.

* Grant makes the play. 2nd & 4.

* Favre to Grant again. Tatupu makes the tackle.

* Now Favre to Jennings for 23 yards.

* 1s & 10 — Favre to Grant. Taken down from behind by Brian Russell at the Seahawks 12-yard line.

* Grant again, loses yardage, tackled by Tatupu. 2nd & 11, now.

* 2nd & 11 — Favre to Brandon Jackson. TOUCHDOWN PACKERS!!!!!

* And the kick is good! Packers 35, Seattle 17.

* Seattle, 2nd & 4 — Hasselback over the top, intended for Leonard Weaver. Hasselbeck is frustrated, he needs to settle down if he wants to make a play according to the announcers.

* 3rd & 4, D.J. Hackett makes the first down before getting tackled by Tramon Williams.

* Hasselbeck makes a completion of 23 yards to Obomanu. Two defensive penalties on the play. Hasselbeck thinking he can call holding penalties on the Packers to gain some advantage?

* Burleson gains four yards. Another flag. Holding on the offense, Bobby Engram. 10 yard penalty.

* First down and 18, Collins and Pickett make the tackle on Alexander.

* Shaun Alexander again, tackled by Nick Barnett.

*3rd & 10, Engram makes first down on Green Bay 23-yard line.

* Ball on the 22, Hasselbeck to Alexander, taken down at the 19 yard line by Pickett. There is a flag on the play. 12 men on the field, defensive, 5 yard penalty, still first down.

* It was 1st and 5, but now a yard shy of the first down for Seattle.

* 2nd & 1, Weaver picks up the first down.

* Seahawks able to move the chains with under five minutes to go in the third quarter.

* Grounds crew is trying to keep the lines clean of snow to be better able to place the ball. It’s snowing hard in Green Bay today. Tundra football at it’s finest.

* 2nd & 11, Seattle at GB 12. Hasselbeck throws into the end zone. Incomplete to intended receiver Marcus Pollard.

* 3rd & 11, MH sends it to Burleson, but Al Harris takes him down.

* Seahawks to make a field goal kick. Josh Brown battles the heavy snow fall, and the kick is good at the 27-yard line.

* Seattle 20, Green Bay 35.

* Tramon Williams on the return for the Packers, then brought down by Kevin Bentley.

* Packers at their own 35-yard line.

* Favre sends a pass to Jones, a gain of three yards. Lambeau field is covered with snow.

* Diffuculty in deciphering what line the ball is on.

* Grant gains 41 yards in a run!

* Brandon Jackson gets the ball to the four yard line.

* End of third quarter, but the snow continues to fall.

* 1st & Goal, at the Seattle 3-yard line.

* Grant stopped short at the 1-yard line.

* 2nd & Goal, Favre to Grant. Touchdown! His third of this game!

* Packers lead 42, to 20 — the extra kick is good! Favre throws a snowball in celebration of this fun game!

* Crosby kicks, Nate Burleson returns, Corey Hall makes the stop.

* Donald Driver retaliates with a snowball to Favre.

* Shit. Just lost a ton of live-blogging tidbits. Now I’m ticked.

* Field crew is working hard to clear the yard lines. Heavy equipment is now coming out at Lambeau, trying to clear the snow.

* I have no idea where I left off.

* 3rd & 6, Green Bay has the ball, with 10:12 left on the clock.

* Announcer Tony Spirgusa’s microphone was failing, now it seems to be working.

* Packers punt, Jon Ryan’s first punt of the game.

* Live blogging is really fun, but a lot harder than I thought it would be. Anyone mind if I take a break? Like a nine minute break? Yeah, that’s probably not a good idea.

* Hasselbeck completes a pass to Obomanu, ball over the top of Charles Woodson.

* 1st & 10, on 47-yard line. Hand-off to Morris. Flag on the field. 8:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.

* Penalty of 15 yards, major face mask. Dammit Corey Williams. Personal foul.

* Hasselbeck, fumbles, ball not recovered during the play.

* 2nd & 10, Hasselbeck throws, nearly intercepted by Charles Woodson.

* 3rd & 10, MH has the ball on the 4o. Throws to Obomanu, but incomplete.

* Obomanu remains down on the field, could be injured.

* 1st & 10, Hasselbeck goes down by KGB as well as Jenkins.

* KGB makes another tackle.

* 3rd & 25, Packer fans loud and wild. Hasselbeck to Engram. Tackle made at the 15 yard line, but Seahawks will punt it away

* 3:22 left on the clock. Packers 42, Seattle 20. Disappointing day for Hasselbeck.

* 1st & 10, Favre to Brandon Jackson.

* 2nd & 10. Favre comes off the field, with 2 and a half minutes left. Aaron Rodgers replaces Favre with a hand-off to Brandon Jackson.

* Favre has 173 passing yards, and three touchdown passes this game.

* 1st & 10, 1:06 left on the clock and ticking.

* 2nd & 5, 35 seconds to go. Packers win 42-20 over the Seattle Seahawks.

Favre and the Packers are on their way to the NFC Championship game, next Sunday against either the Cowboys or the Giants depending on who wins tomorrow’s game.

I’m thinking Ryan Grant is the games MVP, despite two fumbles resulting in two turnovers in the first quarter, he definitely redeemed himself!
