I’m Not Having A Bad Day

…even though today is Have A Bad Day, Day. Surprisingly, today is a very good day! Maybe I’m optimistic because I have a short work week.

Thanksgiving is knocking on my front door and I still haven’t gone to the grocery store. I just have to make a dessert and I’m procrastinating.

I really can’t think of anything to say today. I’m trying to catch up on work so that I have less to do after the holiday.

Oh, wait. I do have one thing to tell you. I’m going to New York City. For BlogHer Business. I’m really excited.

Do you have any exciting news to share?

The Occult

November 18 is Occult Day.  I don’t know that much about it, but found some interesting sites to satisfy my curiosity.

We are enjoying a quite Sunday at home.  No place to go, nothing pressing to do, and I refuse to do chores today.  I’m taking a day off to do nothing.  Other than chase the kid around, of course.

Speaking of Dawson, does anyone know any secret tips or tricks to STOP THE WHINING?

I can’t take it anymore.  Constant whining and crying, all the time.

“Mooooooooommmmy, I want juuuuuuuice.”

“Moooooooooommmmmm, I want to go to Poooopppppaaaa’s houuuse.”

“Moooommmmmm, I’m-three-years-old-and-you’re-already-ruining-my-life-by-not- giving-into-my-every-demand!”

Someone please help me.

As I write this, the Doodlebug is tearing apart his bedroom.  I’ve tried to discipline him.  I made him sit in the corner for three minutes.  He went right back to destruction.  Five time outs later and I quit.  He wins.  That is until Daddy gets a hold of him.

So maybe our Sunday isn’t so quiet afterall.  Nobody told me the rebellious years would begin at three years old.

Hiking, Shopping, Toe-may-toe, Toe-mah-toe

It’s Take A Hike Day and I decided to get out of the house. Doug has agreed to man the battle station and care for Dawson so that I can get away without dragging a whiny three-year-old with me.

My mom is picking me up in just a few hours to go to a “Home Party” party. It’s one of those things where a bunch of vendors like Party Lite, Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple (among others), get together in one facility to sell product and book shows. Or something. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m just going for the sake of going. Somewhere. Childless. Yay me!

I know, I should really go for a walk and work off some of the pre-winter flab, but it’s freakin’ cold outside!

Happy Weekend!

**Updated - I ended up bringing Dawson with us. He saw Nonna’s car pull into the driveway and threw the mother of all tantrums. To shut him up, he came along. He was surprisingly well-behaved. I’m sort of wondering if my son has been replaced with a pod toddler!

Cute As a Button

It’s Button Day and I thought about showing you a photo of my unofficial button collection. I’ve acquired them over the last few years. Each time I buy a new sweater or cardigan, I throw the extra button in a drawer just in case I need it later. I’ve realized, I haven’t needed a single one of those buttons yet. But I still can’t bring myself to throw them away. I get this little trait from my mother.

Dawson is full of energy these days. His favorite thing to do is run in circles around the coffee table yelling, “I am SPEED! I am LIGHT ‘N HAKEEN!!!”

He loves to chase Murphy and the poor little pup is so good about it. Most dogs would get mad and hide, but little Murphy playfully chases Dawson and the two boys have become best friends.

I remember when Murphy wanted nothing to do with Dawson, but now he likes to sit next to him — especially when Dawson is eating because he always slips him some food. I think it’s adorable that they are finally getting along.

Dawson loves his puppy.
Yes…they are cute as buttons…

I’m at BlogHer today!  Make sure you swing over and visit me!
