7.7.7

It’s my husband’s 39th birthday today.  He will probably kill me when he finds out (through his co-worker who reads this blog) that I have revealed his age.

For the last ten years he has been telling anyone who will listen that he is (still) twenty-nine years old.  He is the new Jack Benny.  I imagine for the next ten years he’ll be telling everyone he’s thirty-nine.  There’s no hiding from the grey hair.  And dearest Doug, I do think it’s sexy on you.

Doug’s mother once told me the story of his birth.  It was a hot summer day and she was very pregnant and miserable because Wisconsin is known for it’s awful humidity.  I forgot all the details like contractions and such, but little Douglas Dale weighed in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces in the early morning of July 7, 1968.

With all those damned sevens in his birth stats you would think he is one lucky man.  Wait.  He is.  He married me, didn’t he?  Heh.

My husband told me that for this birthday, today, 7.7.7., he only wants three things:  dinner, a trip to the casino (did I mention he’s kind of addicted to that gambling machine with all the red, white and blue sevens?) and a subscription to a magazine.  Yes.  That kind of magazine.

Oh, and, he wants to hit three 7’s on that gambling machine.  That would make his day.  Because you know, 7.7.7 only comes around once every century.  Feelin’ lucky, punks?

Being the fabulous wife that I am.  I ordered a two-year mag subscription weeks ago, lined up a babysitter (Hooray, Grandma & Grandpa!), made dinner reservations and filled the car with gas for our 30-minute ride to Rainbow Casino.

What else could he ask for?

Oh.  That

I blame you, Erin.

I feel lucky, today.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Baby King!
