We no longer own the house I grew up in, but a childhood friend of mine now lives there and the tree still stands. To be honest, I hadn't thought of Arbor Day, but we have a few new fruit trees set to arrive on Friday. We're hoping to build up a small orchard on the far end of our property. Thanks for the Arbor Day reminder. Planting trees is always a good idea. I planted my first tree when I was in Kindergarden. That is incredible. I want to order trees!!! I hate that I don't know where we will be living at that point in time!! Darnit. We have the most BEAUTIFUL redbuds in our yard right now, along with the "white twees" and "red twees" that my daughter loves so much. Tell your husband the petals either float away - or evaporate within days of falling off of the tree. It's really sad how fast it's all over.
