New Year, New Blog Style
Since it’s a new year, I’ve decided to try a new blogging style. I want to be more creative, more attractive to my readers.
Frankly, I’m bored with my own blog, and if I’m bored, you must be yawning constantly when reading me. Also, I’m bored with my blog design and my sidebar has become ridiculous. Karen Rani of Swank Webstyle (formerly of Troll Baby Graphics) will be working her magic very soon to create something new and more personal to me.
Lately my writing has been as bland as a baked potato with no fixin’s. No butter, no bacon, no chives, no cheddar cheese or sour cream! Sorry. We had baked potatoes for dinner last night and they were oh-so delicioso.
Anyway, back to the blogorrhea I’ve been suffering from. Don’t you just love my term? Blogorrhea? Ha. I’m too cool such a dork.
It’s not that I don’t have anything to write about, because I do. I’ve just had no time with the new job to actually process the thoughts that are like scrambled eggs in my brain. I must really be hungry, I’m using too many food metaphors.
The funy thing about my realization is that when I worked for Travel Guard, I had too much time on my hands and not enough challenging work to complete. I had time to read blogs and to think about my next topic or post.
Now life is busy and I’m panicking about when I’ll have time to blog. Blogging is my passion, it should be a burden. So I’ve decided only to blog when I have something good to say! How’s that for a discovery? You’d think I’d have learned that ages ago.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but I can’t post garbage for the sake of posting. I don’t want to be in a blogging rut. I want to tell my story, to share my truth. That’s just what I plan to do.
After all, I have New Year’s resolutions for my life, why not resolutions for my blog?
So I ask of you, dear readers, to send me your comments and suggestions. What do you want to read about? What type of design layout do you think suits The Dana Files?
I need all the help I can get. Show me the blog love, baby!

Sister, Sister
One of the nice things about my new job is that I now have weekends off. I haven’t had that perk since after Dawson was born. When he was little, I made it clear that Saturday and Sunday would be days that I spent with my family, not chained to that hideous desk.
Today, I spent the day with Dawson and my sister Rachel. Rachel and I are six years apart and we’ve had our sisterly arguments as most sisters do. I love her to death but she often drives me crazy with her little sister habits. I’d go into more detail, but I’m being the bigger person (and big sister) and saving some embarrassment. For both of us.
We went to the grocery store, but some healthy salads and then junk food and went back to my house to watch movies. We decided to watch “The Great Outdoors”, “Grumpy Old Men” and “Grumpier Old Men” just for laughs. And because they were already in my collection. We didn’t rent movies, because we’re trying to save money. We even sat through an hour of Teletubbies so that Dawson could feel like he had some say in the tv time.
Halfway through our marathon we had the craving for baked potatoes. I tinfoiled them up and they baked for an hour and 20 minutes. Delish. I topped mine with sour cream, cheese and bacos. Weight Watchers can allow me one indulgence, right?
It was a good day. I’m really tired, though. Who knew sister time could be so exhausting!

Hello Again, Blog World!
It’s been one busy, chaotic, over the top, two weeks here at the Dana Files. I haven’t blogged since Monday and I think my blogging buddies are worried about me. I only know this because I received 11 semi-frantic e-mails wondering if I fell off the face of the Earth, or worse, forgot my password to my blog!
Never fear, Dana is here! I’ve just been swallowed whole by my new amazing job and I have no complaints. I love it here.
I finally have a few minutes to tell you that I work for Avada Audiology. My position is Patient Care Coordinator. This means I spend my day scheduling and confirming appointments for hearing evaluations. I also complete paperwork and really fun office work. It’s a blast. I know you must think I’m crazy, but I’m immersed in this place. My husband tells me it won’t be long before the honeymoon phase of this job wears out, but I can honestly say I don’t think it will.
I’ve been travelling to other offices for training and so I’ve been a little tired these last few days.
I’m so sorry for the sparse posting methods. I miss all of you very much. Tonight is blogging night! I’ve got a post almost ready for BlogHer, too (it will be up tonight, I promise!).
So. that’s what’s up with me. I’ll see you lovely friends soon! I’m on a mission to catch up on my blog life, too!
Feel free to send me some comments to update me on your lives! I’ll try to check them throughout my day.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!

The 1968 Comeback Special.

Loving You.

Definitely a Ladies Man.

Born January 8, 1935, Elvis Aaron Presley was an awesome entertainer, actor and singer. He would have been seventy-two years old today. He was charismatic and compassionate, but even he was human. He died of a drug overdose on August 16, 1977.
I’ve always been an Elvis fan. When I was a little girl, my aunt Judy and I would dance to his music and watch his movies while my mom was at work. I told her I wanted to marry Elvis and she said “I’m sorry, Dana, he died before you were born.” I stopped whatever I was doing and cried. I was only 8 years old and I knew he was a legend. I felt the impact of his death without even knowing the circumstances.
Happy Birthday, Elvis. You were truly a legend in your time and continue to be long after.
