Give Me A Hint
In my quest to lose weight and be more healthy, I have been spending time online, researching new recipes and logging my points at Weight Watchers.
It’s going well, I’ve lost a few pounds of water so far. But my struggles come in many forms. For example, I love soda. My Sprite was a daily occurance, but it has so much sugar and it really is empty calories.
I’ve managed to guzzle my required recommended 8 glasses of water each day, no problem (well except for the constant peeing in the beginning, now I’m pretty much absorbing it all). But I need some flavor.
And so I discovered Hint. Kara Goldin of San Francisco is a mother of four and busy entrepreneur of this fantastic flavored water. She has recently been featured in the February issue of Shape Magazine. Her product has also been seen on Grey’s Anatomy!

Her idea came from adding lime and tangerine slices into her kids water glasses. And so her business began.
I went online and researched the nine different flavors. A case of 24 is $44. I’m so intrigued, I’m ordering my first case!
Let the weight loss continue. I’ve already been putting cucumber and lemon in my water bottle, but I think Kara’s drink is much more convenient, and the bottles are attractive, too!

The Couple Who Cooks Together…
When I first met my husband, I had little knowledge of cooking. In fact, as our relationship progressed, I often spent many a night eating dinner at his place simply because he was cooking.
He had experience in the kitchen as a chef for the Hot Fish Shoppe, a seafood restaurant that has since closed up “shop” years ago.
Doug would make me steaks, shrimp, excellent pasta dishes, breaded pork chops (seriously, my mother NEVER breaded a pork chop — this was new to me) and introduced me to seasonings.
Yes, seasonings. Before I met him, I thought salt and pepper were the bomb. He taught me how to use ginger, curry, chili powder, oregano, basil, thyme, and his personal favorite Lawry’s Seasoning Salt.
I know what you’re thinking. I’m a complete kitchen nitwit, but he really has taught me well.
Last night we cooked together which is a something we rarely do for fear we’ll kill each other in our tiny kitchen. But, it was a different last night. We each took responsibility for different ingredients in the Spicy Beefy Chicken & Broccoli Stir Fry.
I chopped the veggies, he sauteed the beef and chicken and together we made dinner. It turned out excellent. Just the right amout of flavor, ginger and garlic.
I think we may have to cook together more often.

Famous People
Yesterday was my first company meeting for this new job. My co-worker B. and I had to drive to Fond du Lac. We had a great time during the drive, talking and laughing, and realizing that our husbands went to high school together and we know pretty much all the same people.
At the meeting, I got to meet the other employees from the other offices in Wisconsin and Illinois. But the highlight of my day was finding out that I work for the same company as a certain actor’s father.
Because I want to keep my new and fabulous job, I will not type out his name. Anyone who knows me, will tell you how much I am addicted to love CSI (Las Vegas). I tape the show every single week. I watch CSI weekend reruns quite often. So when I met his father, I felt like a starstruck teenager and simply said, “I just love that show! And E…, he’s so darn cute!”
His father simply replied, “Thank you. Are you from Stevens Point?” I told him I was and that the only star we’re famous for is Kathy Kinney of The Drew Carey Show (don’t get me wrong, she is awesome!) and he laughed and said, “My brother Ray is lives in Antigo, he’s the Menard’s guy!”
So, needless to say, I spent the afternoon wondering how I can arrange a date with his son — maybe we’ll meet up at an awards ceremony. Too bad the Golden Globes are over with!
