Damn, I Look Good!

It has been a very long day.  This morning I awoke early (hey, 6:30 is early for me) because I had to travel to Appleton. The city is 73 miles from my home and it has an awesome shopping mecca called the Fox River Mall as well as great restaurants, but this was not a leisure trip (however, Doug and I will soon be taking a mini-vaca to A-town in two weeks! I can’t wait!).

I spent my day shadowing a co-worker in the Appleton office just to get the feel of how someone else does this new job of mine.  It was a long day, but I had a great time getting to know the people and learning new things.  For example, I learned about patient coordinating, answering telephones and great sales techniques.  I also learned how funny the audiology practitioner, D., is.  He teased L., the girl I was shadowing about her brain not being in her head.  L. replied “Are you saying my brain is in my boobs?”  D. said, “No, I think your brain is bigger.  You might be sitting on it.”  I know this sounds horrible, but the three of us could not stop laughing.  They have such great senses of humor.  I know Mocha would appreciate this witty fun, too!

When I got home tonight, I quickly changed clothes and headed out to my Weight Watchers meeting with Dawson in tow.  He insisted on going “fo ride wit, Mumma?  Peese?  Mumma, Dawson go, too?”  The child is getting so wonderful at using his words.  Each day he learns something new to add to his vocabulary.  Just yesterday he told me, “Mumma, I can’t fine my Thomas shoes.  You help, Dawson fine?”  I really don’t know how long he will speak of himself in third person, but it sure is cute.

I lost another 1.8 pounds at weigh-in this week.  The progress is looking good.  I figure another 37 years before I’m a size zero.  Not that I want to be a size zero and look like Lindsay Lohen or anything.  I’m just making a point.

Today is my 29th day anniversary of being smoke free.  This is the most important New Year’s resolution I made that is successfully working.  The weight-loss, not so much, simply because I’m impatient.

Things are working out well so far.  I really can’t complain.

Oh yeah!  Do you see how good I look?  Err…I mean, my blog?  This fabulous design was installed today while I was away.  When I got home and checked my blog, I was astonished.  Karen Rani of Swank Web Style did an amazing job and I simply cannot find the words to describe my happiness.  I cannot thank her enough.   This woman is magical.  Simply magical.  This layout is eye catching and I think it suits me perfectly.  I feel like a magazine page!  I was thinking a newspaper-journalist theme, but I love that it looks like a page you’d find straight out of Cosmo.  Karen really knows her stuff and she makes it her priority to know her customers well.  Those of you looking for a new blog-lift need to seek her services!  If Karen isn’t available, one of Swanks co-designers might be!

That’s the extent of my day.  I’m tired and yawning!  I’ll see you all on the next page!

  1. I like the new look, it’s pretty slick. Sheesh, people force me to change my design like everyday. I can’t keep up with you folks. :)

Congratulations on keeping smoke-free. I’ve been smoke free for almost 2 years ago. It’s just quite amazing how much more time I have and how much more money i’ve saved. keep it up! /cheer!

  2. ugh. english is my second language and i’m a dork. I of course meant to say “smoke free for almost 2 years now.” /sigh

  3. Damn woman, you do ‘look good’.

Great job on the smoke-free month and the weight loss….You’re doing great!

  4. hey! i’ve been to the fox river mall! how random is that??!! considering i live in canada…

  5. How the heck did she make it look like the corner of the header is curling back like that? How cool! And I love the little doggie reading the magazine behind the chair.

As promised, I got back on track with Weight Watchers today. The hardest part for me is knowing what to buy at the grocery store, because I have such a small food budget and five people to feed. But if I could lose even one pound a week, I would be happy. Congrats on your weight loss!

  6. You must be a Grade A Shopper to tackle Fox River Mall! I can never get through more than half of it before I’m ready to get the *beep* out of there! I’m in Green Bay, by the way. Great blog!

  7. I love the new look of your blog! Karen always does such a fabulous job!

And congrats on the weight loss! Any loss is still a loss, and you’ll reach your goals in no time.

  8. Elizabeth!!! GROCERY STORES! You, my dear, are talking to the right woman. I used to struggle with that, and I realized it’s because I spend too much time in the middle of the store. My husband works for a grocery store and he clued me in: always shop the perimeter. Produce, Meat, Dairy. Avoid the general merchandise and deli. Well, the deli is good for low fat sandwich meat, but that’s about it!

And, Karen, she’s just magical! That’s all I can say! :)

  9. Your blog looks great, Dana! And CONGRATS on your weight loss, that’s is so great!

  10. Thank you all for the sweet compliments (Karen is awesome!!

Amber darling :), I barely make it to FRM. Maybe 2-3 times a year, if that. When I’m there, I go during a weekday when teenagers are in school and people are working. It’s so much easier.
Nights and weekends are for crazy people!

  11. Ali, It’s sad, I’ve never been to Canada, and I live in Wisconsin! :( Maybe I’ll have to convince my hubby to take us on a vaca, there!

  12. Your blog looks fantastic. I love it!

Also, congratulations on your weight loss and your smoke-free anniversary! That’s a lot of hard work. You’re doing great! You’re an inspiration!

  13. Karen rules… and now she is with swank.. watch out! They will be makeing over ever blog in the world one at a time.
To you- What a stud, smoke free and trying to lose weight. Meoooowwww
