New Year, New Blog Style
Since it’s a new year, I’ve decided to try a new blogging style. I want to be more creative, more attractive to my readers.
Frankly, I’m bored with my own blog, and if I’m bored, you must be yawning constantly when reading me. Also, I’m bored with my blog design and my sidebar has become ridiculous. Karen Rani of Swank Webstyle (formerly of Troll Baby Graphics) will be working her magic very soon to create something new and more personal to me.
Lately my writing has been as bland as a baked potato with no fixin’s. No butter, no bacon, no chives, no cheddar cheese or sour cream! Sorry. We had baked potatoes for dinner last night and they were oh-so delicioso.
Anyway, back to the blogorrhea I’ve been suffering from. Don’t you just love my term? Blogorrhea? Ha. I’m too cool such a dork.
It’s not that I don’t have anything to write about, because I do. I’ve just had no time with the new job to actually process the thoughts that are like scrambled eggs in my brain. I must really be hungry, I’m using too many food metaphors.
The funy thing about my realization is that when I worked for Travel Guard, I had too much time on my hands and not enough challenging work to complete. I had time to read blogs and to think about my next topic or post.
Now life is busy and I’m panicking about when I’ll have time to blog. Blogging is my passion, it should be a burden. So I’ve decided only to blog when I have something good to say! How’s that for a discovery? You’d think I’d have learned that ages ago.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but I can’t post garbage for the sake of posting. I don’t want to be in a blogging rut. I want to tell my story, to share my truth. That’s just what I plan to do.
After all, I have New Year’s resolutions for my life, why not resolutions for my blog?
So I ask of you, dear readers, to send me your comments and suggestions. What do you want to read about? What type of design layout do you think suits The Dana Files?
I need all the help I can get. Show me the blog love, baby!

I think it’s common for people to get into ruts and feel uncreative or frustrated with writing. Sometimes taking a little vacation is all it takes to get your groove back.
I’d make a suggestion for your blog but it’s so personal, I’m hard pressed.

I love it here. Do what you want with your blog. It’s here to make you happy.
We all feel this way once in a while. Izzy is right…go read her ‘blogging declaration of independence’ again…If only I could upload the button (Damn blogger…) I’d put it on my site too to remember…
Good luck with the new design…

I’m in no position to give advice. Here’s what works for me:
I write everyday and I post everyday. Every post isn’t gold, but if I don’t write everyday, none of them would be. I have to write and write and keep writing to get through a rut. I post something daily, even if it isn’t my best, because I can look back and really see the journey. (It’s funny – some of the stuff I feel isn’t so good is the stuff people seem to respond to and the post I think is awesome gets no attention at all!)
You should do whatever you want with your blog. It’s yours! I enjoy reading about you.
I’m excited to see where your new direction takes you.

Good luck with that, Dana.
No advice for you. You’ll figure it out on your own. It’s your truth after all.

Yes, read Izzy’s Blogging Declaration of Independence. Write what you want, write what you feel. I’ll be here to read!

I’m feeling you, Dana! I’ve had the same design for years now, and I’m in the process of having some changes made (which means someone else is working on it for me, as I have very limited knowledge about those sorts of things!). I’m a writer, not a computer geek (although it would come in handy sometimes!).
