Damn, I Look Good!

It has been a very long day.  This morning I awoke early (hey, 6:30 is early for me) because I had to travel to Appleton. The city is 73 miles from my home and it has an awesome shopping mecca called the Fox River Mall as well as great restaurants, but this was not a leisure trip (however, Doug and I will soon be taking a mini-vaca to A-town in two weeks! I can’t wait!).

I spent my day shadowing a co-worker in the Appleton office just to get the feel of how someone else does this new job of mine.  It was a long day, but I had a great time getting to know the people and learning new things.  For example, I learned about patient coordinating, answering telephones and great sales techniques.  I also learned how funny the audiology practitioner, D., is.  He teased L., the girl I was shadowing about her brain not being in her head.  L. replied “Are you saying my brain is in my boobs?”  D. said, “No, I think your brain is bigger.  You might be sitting on it.”  I know this sounds horrible, but the three of us could not stop laughing.  They have such great senses of humor.  I know Mocha would appreciate this witty fun, too!

When I got home tonight, I quickly changed clothes and headed out to my Weight Watchers meeting with Dawson in tow.  He insisted on going “fo ride wit, Mumma?  Peese?  Mumma, Dawson go, too?”  The child is getting so wonderful at using his words.  Each day he learns something new to add to his vocabulary.  Just yesterday he told me, “Mumma, I can’t fine my Thomas shoes.  You help, Dawson fine?”  I really don’t know how long he will speak of himself in third person, but it sure is cute.

I lost another 1.8 pounds at weigh-in this week.  The progress is looking good.  I figure another 37 years before I’m a size zero.  Not that I want to be a size zero and look like Lindsay Lohen or anything.  I’m just making a point.

Today is my 29th day anniversary of being smoke free.  This is the most important New Year’s resolution I made that is successfully working.  The weight-loss, not so much, simply because I’m impatient.

Things are working out well so far.  I really can’t complain.

Oh yeah!  Do you see how good I look?  Err…I mean, my blog?  This fabulous design was installed today while I was away.  When I got home and checked my blog, I was astonished.  Karen Rani of Swank Web Style did an amazing job and I simply cannot find the words to describe my happiness.  I cannot thank her enough.   This woman is magical.  Simply magical.  This layout is eye catching and I think it suits me perfectly.  I feel like a magazine page!  I was thinking a newspaper-journalist theme, but I love that it looks like a page you’d find straight out of Cosmo.  Karen really knows her stuff and she makes it her priority to know her customers well.  Those of you looking for a new blog-lift need to seek her services!  If Karen isn’t available, one of Swanks co-designers might be!

That’s the extent of my day.  I’m tired and yawning!  I’ll see you all on the next page!

I’m In Big T-R-O-U-B-L-E!

Several months ago my mother and I attended a Lia Sophia jewelry party that my friend M. was hosting.  M. decided to go into the jewelry business as an advisor with the company and we got some great deals on some nice items.

At said show, I agreed to book a party as a favor to M.  My mother also wanted to have a party and we decided to combine our guest list in order to get “the good deals”.  The show was last week Saturday at my house and I finally closed it today.

I have to confess:  I spent $300 on beautiful necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

My husband is going to kill me.  I’m not kidding.  When that box of goodies arrives next week, I will be dead.  I will be so dead that my famous actor boyfriend, Eric Szmanda, will have to leave CSI: Las Vegas for a day to investigate my death that my husband made look like a suicide. (Yes, it’s okay for me to publish his name now!  Don’t worry!)

Pause for laughter.  Go ahead, laugh.

Are you all done yet?

I don’t think you realize the severity of this situation.

Three hundred dollars.  On jewelry.  And it’s not even real gold or gems.

I’m dead meat.

But loooook at all the fabulous bling I’m getting!!

The Beaumont Bracelet and Necklace

(I’m only getting that cuff bracelet in the above photo.)

And so many other pieces (the entire catalog was not online)!

Now repeat after me:  “Dana is dead meat!”

Hot Celeb Video

My husband found this video online today and we’ve been laughing our butts off.  It’s too funny, yet almost sad!

It’s like watching a car wreck!

Give Me A Hint

In my quest to lose weight and be more healthy, I have been spending time online, researching new recipes and logging my points at Weight Watchers.

It’s going well, I’ve lost a few pounds of water so far.  But my struggles come in many forms.  For example, I love soda.  My Sprite was a daily occurance, but it has so much sugar and it really is empty calories.

I’ve managed to guzzle my required recommended 8 glasses of water each day, no problem (well except for the constant peeing in the beginning, now I’m pretty much absorbing it all).  But I need some flavor.

And so I discovered Hint.  Kara Goldin of San Francisco is a mother of four and busy entrepreneur of this fantastic flavored water.  She has recently been featured in the February issue of Shape Magazine.  Her product has also been seen on Grey’s Anatomy!

Her idea came from adding lime and tangerine slices into her kids water glasses.  And so her business began.

I went online and researched the nine different flavors.  A case of 24 is $44.  I’m so intrigued, I’m ordering my first case!

Let the weight loss continue.  I’ve already been putting cucumber and lemon in my water bottle, but I think Kara’s drink is much more convenient, and the bottles are attractive, too!
