Freddie Is Back!

I have realized that when it rains it pours and when you get a severe head cold, most certainly, the flu will follow.  It’s inevitable.  No matter how hard I try to stay healthy, I manage to get ever single virus or infection that Dawson gets from daycare or anywhere else he’s visited.

Do you realize that I have had the 24-hour flu virus four times this year?  How is this even possible.  I was sick with it in February, April, August and now December.  Am I being punished?

I spent the entire day in bed.  First I was freezing.  I had on sweatpants, thick socks, a t-shirt underneath a sweatshirt, a scarf, a hat and two heavy quilts covered me as I slept for nearly 5 hours.

I woke up in a sweat and immediately proceeded to strip all my blankets and clothes off.  It was horrible.

After I cooled off, I put on one layer of clothes and went back to bed.  Thank the Lord that Doug was home to take care of Dawson so I could rest.  I never would have made it without him.

I’m miffed because my cold symptoms were nearly gone as of yesterday and then this morning I’m miserable.  It was like a sneak attack.  Freddie Flu better leave soon or I’ll die.  I will simply die!

I’ve been horrible in my blog walking these days.  I want to say I’m sorry to all of you.  I miss you so much.  I can’t believe how much catching up I have to do!  When I saw my e-mail box today I was stunned to see 105 new messages!  Thankfully most were junkmail and easily deleted.

Now that I’ve updated you on my day, I’m going back to bed.  Hopefully I’ll be better tomorrow.

  1. I do know how you feel — I had a terrible virus or something last week, and just when I started to feel better this week I’ve gotten hit with a bad cold. It’s terrible when you feel so bad that you can’t keep up with your blogging (or anything else!!)

Hope you feel better soon. If I lived nearby I’d bring you some chicken soup. :-)

  2. FOUR times? You’ve had the flu four times?!

That’s just bad karma. You hanging around in a petri dish of germs or something?

    Drink some juice, my friend.

  3. I hope you’re feeling better soon!

  4. Oh sweetie you poor thing. I am so sorry. I hope this goes away soon and you feel great again!

  5. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  6. Feel better. I miss you too.

    hug.

  7. I’m knocking on wood right now, because so far I have managed to stay healthy. Last year at this time, I’d already had four horrible colds from September on. And I still ended up with the flu in January and a couple more colds (one that took out my voice for a week) before winter was over.

The difference this year? Allergy meds. I was skeptical when my doctor put me on Allegra and Singulair last spring but I haven’t had a cold since – even while my co-workers have been coming down with stuff. Working in a library exposes me to a lot of germs, dust and mold so I’m guessing my doctor was on to something.

  8. this flu is going around. Both of my kids have it and I don’t feel so hot myself.
    Ugh! Get better soon.

  9. Oh Dana, I hope you feel better soon. The flu sucks. Wish I could run down there with some chicken noodle soup or something. We drove past Schmeekle yesterday, and I thought of you.

  10. There’s definitely something going around the blogosphere.

  11. You know I can’t tell you how many times I got sick those first few years of my son’s life. I think we catch it from kissing on THEM.

  12. Forgot to say… Hope you feel better soon. (Was thinking it but just forgot to say it.)

  13. Oh you poor thing! The flu is terrible. And to keep getting it….ugh. I hope you are feeling better by today (Sun).

  14. Same thing happened to me… Hope all is better at your house. And I’m hoping no one else here gets what I had!

  15. Feel better soon, Dana! Poor thing. :-(

  16. Thank you all so much. I’m finally coherent and not so damn groggy and fluish. Ugh.

What have you all been up to? I need to catch up!
