Carp Shooting
No, it’s not supposed to be “Crap Shooting”…I really intended to type Carp. As in the fish that poplulates many rivers in Wisconsin. What is carp shooting, you ask?
According to my husband it’s a sport in which one uses an arrow attached by a string to a bow and shoots a carp fish through the water with special polarized glasses. I know, it confused me, too. The first time I went carp shooting, I got my boob caught in the release of the bow. Can you say OOOOUUUUCCCHHH???? I’ve never tried it again, too much work and too painful.
Today, my husband and his friend leave for four long days of carp shooting on the south fork of the Flambeau River in Fifield, Wisconsin. Four whole days alone in the North Woods with just a bow and arrow and boat. And I’m certain beer and cocktails will be involved, followed by many tall tales and perhaps even a bear sighting.
For me, this means four entire days with the Doodlebug, alone. With no breaks - unless you count the time I’m at work and he’s at daycare - no one to take him for a few hours so Mommy can get work done.
But wait. I cleaned the house last night. The kitchen is spotless. The dining room is sparkly. The living room is in order with all the millions of Little People toys neatly tucked in their rubbermaid home. (I swear those darned Little People procreate at night; producing more Little People for me to step on!) I even made lasagna last night and individually froze slices for dinner the next few nights. Damn, I’m good.
So, now I have three whole days to enjoy the Bug. Perhaps I’ll take him swimming at Lake Emily. I could use a refresher tan and some beach time. I hope the water isn’t too cold. It’s still early in the summer for warm water.
What are your plans for the weekend?
