Fun Filled Friday

I love spending time with my son. Even when he’s a little turd and destroys the living room’s cleanliness by littering toys EVERYWHERE…I still love him. As a mother, this is an obvious and natural feeling. But I can’t help but write, say and think it all the time.
Yesterday was my day off from work. Dawson and I were up at 6 a.m. Doug went to work at 7 a.m. and the Bug and I headed out to do our errands. First we went to McDonalds. He really loves “Playland” and I love my breakfast burrito. Dawson had the scrambled eggs platter with sausage and he ate almost all of it. After breakfast we went to Copp’s East Side grocery store where my dad works. Dawson loves his “Gumpa” and it’s always fun for my dad to get visitors. We bought a few necessities like Cheerios, milk, yogurt, orange juice and cookies. Okay the cookies weren’t NECESSARY, but how do I tell my little one, “No!” that is just cruel. Really it is.
After the grocery store we went to Wal-Mart. I had to pick up my film that I dropped off to be printed. I’m sending some pictures of Dawson to my brother Nathan who’s serving for the military stationed in Kuwait. I bought a hair cutting set on clearance. This was the highlight of the trip. Doug and Dawson need haircuts so much and I’m tired of paying $18 every time. And lately we’ve been borrowing my brother’s sheers and I’ve been cutting their hair. Now we have our own.
Dawson got a matchbox car because he managed to behave for most of the trip. Okay, he did have one screaming fit when I wouldn’t let him buy one of those gigantic bouncy balls. So the matchbox car was a swap.
After Wal-Mart, we headed back home but stopped at a rummage sale on the way. I got a plastic children’s table and two chairs for $5. I’ve been eyeing these up at full retail ($45) and this one was in mint condition, I couldn’t pass it up. I don’t care what anyone says about garage sales, I found a deal.
Then we got home, unloaded the car (Dawson helped. He carried his cookies.), and the Bug took a nap. While he was sleeping, I washed dishes, swept the floors, repotted my house plants (I had to buy potting soil at Wal-Mart, too), vacuumed and then wrote a blog entry. When the Bug woke up we played the “Tickle Monster” game. This game is funny. The Bug sits on my lap facing me and I tickle him and he leans back and laughs and grabs his belly. I end up laughing so hard because he’s laughing so hard. He squeals with delight when I say, “Monster’s gonna getchoooo!!!”
Okay, I know I’m a dork, but it’s still fun!
Then Daddy got home from work and Dawson played “Monster Trucks” with him. I headed off to get fitted one last time for my bridesmaids dress and went tanning.
All in all, it was a wonderful day.
